McDonald's was sued on Tuesday by consumers in a proposed class action stemming from the E.coli outbreak linked to onions in the fast-food chain's Quarter Pounders, as per a Reuters report. In a complaint filed in Chicago federal court, Amanda McCray and William Michael Kraft said they experienced many symptoms associated with E.coli infection after buying Quarter Pounders this month. They said they would not have bought their burgers had McDonald's disclosed the risk of contamination. The lawsuit seeks damages for all people in the United States who bought Quarter Pounders contaminated with E.coli.

Supreme Court had sought response from debt-ridden SKS Power Generation (Chhattisgarh) Ltd, its lenders and its resolution professional on an appeal by Torrent Power challenging the approval granted to Sarda Energy and Minerals resolution plan for takeover of the power generation firm. A Bench led by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud while issuing notice to SKS, its Committee of Creditors and resolution professional Ashish Arjunkumar Rathi and Sarda Energy, the successful resolution applicant, observed that “there is much more than what meets the eye.” The apex court also noted senior counsel AM Singhvi’s submission on behalf of Torrent that the Sarda’s bid was modified in material respects after the conclusion of the negotiation process. However, the CJI directed that “any further steps which are taken in implementation of the resolution plan by the second respondent (Sarda) shall not create any equities in their favour.”

AP Teacher Eligibility Test (AP TET) 2024 and applicants who took the exam can now check the key on the official APTET website at aptet.apcfss.in. The Department has announced that the results for the AP TET 2024 will be available on November 2, 2024. Candidates should regularly check the official website for the latest updates. The AP TET exam was held in multiple sessions from October 3 to October 21, 2024. A provisional answer key was released to allow candidates to raise any objections concerning discrepancies. Siddaramaiah on Tuesday sought to calm down farmers in Vijayapura, Yadgir and Dharwad districts, agitated after the revenue authorities issued them notices claiming that their farmlands were owned by the Waqf Board. «No farmer will be evicted from his land. If the government has issued any notice, they will be withdrawn,» the CM told media persons in Bengaluru responding to queries on farmers in these districts getting notices. Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Waqf Minister BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan and Industries minister MB Patil have already clarified on the subject, the CM said.

Congress leaders in Pune, after being left out in ticket distributions for the assembly polls has prompted three senior leaders--Aba Bagul, Kamal Vyavhare, and Manish Anand--to file their nominations as independent candidates for key seats in the city. This discontent stems from seat-sharing issues within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). The first woman mayor of Pune, Kamal Vyavhare, will contest from Kasba Assembly constituency, while Manish Anand will run from Shivaji Nagar and Aba Bagul from Parvati Assembly seats. Notably, Kasba and Shivaji Nagar seats were allocated to Congress, with Ravindra Dhangekar and Datta Bahirat as the declared candidates, respectively. Parvati Assembly seat was given to NCP's Ashwini Kadam. Aba Bagul, who has been a councillor in Pune Municipal Corporation for 40 years, also being in several standing committees and leader of the opposition in the corporation, is as an independent candidate from the Parvati Assembly constituency of Pune city.
