markets security Strategy Trade Cycling Schools International Tweak rule to facilitate same-day settlement of FPI trades: Bankers
foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) betting on India, have asked the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to consider a tweak in the rule to facilitate same-day settlement of stock trades, better known as T-plus-zero (or, T+0). They want the banking regulator to enable FPIs to have a mechanism where funds can be organised from banks during the day to buy shares and squared off in evening-an arrangement that would be handy once the shorter settlement cycle of T+0 is extended for institutional trades. In the T+0 cycle, the buyer gets the shares and the seller receives the money on the same day the trade happens. Indications are that the market regulator Securities & Exchange Board of India (Sebi), wants custodian institutions to be ready for T+0 settlement for FPI and other institutional trades by end December or early January as the Sebi chairperson is believed to be keen on executing this before her term ends in February 2025, two industry persons told ET.

markets Strategy Election President Schools rights Vav assembly bypoll: Contest between BJP, Congress & two rebel candidates
Vav assembly seat scheduled for November 13, it has turned into a de-facto battle of prestige for the Opposition Congress that has fielded Gulabsinh Rajput, a close confidant of Geniben Thakor, the lone Congress member of Lok Sabha from Gujarat. With AAP finally relenting from the contest after initial postering, the electoral battle is now clearly bipolar with BJP fielding Swarupji Thakor at the last minute. The Vav assembly segment in Banaskantha has a maximum population of Thakor voters at 70,000 followed by Chaudhary and Kshatriya voters. While the seat also has significant Dalit, Brahmin and Muslim voters, it is the Thakor and Chaudhary voters who play a decisive role in the outcome. The Congress high command refrained from fielding a Thakor candidate after fielding Geniben in the Lok Sabha and rewarded Gulabsinh, a Kshatriya candidate who had played a crucial role in Geniben's Lok Sabha campaign. Rajput is also a very popular leader in the region in his own right. However, he had lost to Shankar Chaudhary, Speaker of Gujarat legislative assembly from nearby Tharad constituency in 2022, Thakor had lost to Geniben in Vav in last assembly polls.

markets Strategy Food DISH Experts 2020 Schools How Halloween horrors seeded the great gourd scare of 2020
But using gourds, the wider term for bulbous vine fruits of the Cucurbitaceae family, to symbolise heads has an older history. In India, ash-gourds have been used instead of human sacrifices for centuries. The ones kept outside homes to ward off evil often have crude faces painted on them. Gourds grow in most parts of the world and their often-imposing shapes and blandly adaptable flesh mean that societies have found many uses for them. Gourds are used as masks and covers for more private regions. Dried gourds are used in musical instruments such as sitars and banjos. They are used as receptacles for water and foods, and this, in turn, gives them symbolic value. “The great significance of the gourd to many people is perhaps no better shown than by its prominence in their creation myths,” writes Charles Heiser in The Gourd Book. Many stories have gods or the earliest humans created and sheltered in gourds.

They allege that the image was altered from a picture of McDonald's staff, putting Harris's face onto it. This incident has brought the spotlight on Harris's claimed employment at McDonald's, which has become a contentious issue between Republicans and Democrats. Former President Donald Trump has asserted that Harris lied about her work experience at the fast-food chain 41 years ago. Last Sunday, in a provocative move, Trump worked a shift at a McDonald’s in Pennsylvania, stating that he worked «15 minutes more» than Harris, who he contends has no record of employment there.

US election 2024 campaign rally at New York's Madison Square Garden stadium on Sunday, an iconic sports and music venue that has a history of hosting political conventions — but was also tainted by an infamous 1930s Nazi assembly. On Sunday night, Trump performs a campaign quirk: rallying his supporters in Madison Square Garden, the iconic arena in the heart of Democrat-heavy New York. The choice is a classic Trump flex, an opportunity to fill a 20,000-seat stadium dubbed «The World's Most Famous Arena» in the city where he first made his name as a real estate tycoon with a playboy lifestyle, according to reports. The rally at Madison Square Garden, which has changed locations since the 1930s, underscores Trump's bold claim that he could even flip solidly Democratic New York into the Republican camp on November 5.

markets Citi Racing Strategy track Schools For F1 teams, the Mexican GP is all about altitude
Formula One (F1) cars racing in Mexico City, the normal rules don’t apply. When speeding down a straight that is almost 1 mile (1.6 km) long, teams would usually need to race a car with as sleek a body shape as possible to cut through the air and hit top speeds quickly. But at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, where this weekend’s Mexico City Grand Prix (GP) will be held, it’s the opposite. Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez first held a F1 world championship race in 1963. For the drivers, the track will feel more akin to racing on a slippery street course like the one in Monaco, where regular automobiles that use the streets when F1 is not in town wear away the traction provided by the sticky tire rubber laid down by race cars.
