State Bank of India (SBI) fell by 2.2% on Thursday to an intraday low of Rs 820.10 on the BSE as the company announced the appointment of Rama Mohan Rao Amara as the Managing Director (MD) of the bank. “Vide Notification No. 2/1/2024-BO.I dated 18.12.2024, issued by Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, it has been notified that- “In exercise of powers conferred by clause (b) of section 19 read with sub-section (1) of section 20 of the State Bank of India Act, 1955 (23 of 1955), the Central Government hereby appoints Shri Rama Mohan Rao Amara, Deputy Managing Director, State Bank of India as Managing Director in State Bank of India,” said the company in its filing to the exchange.

Vijay Mallya on Wednesday said that banks have recovered Rs 14,131.60 crore from him «against the judgement debt of Rs 6203 crore» but he continues to be «an economic offender». He said in a post on X that unless the Enforcement Directorate and banks can legally justify how they have taken more than two times the debt, he is entitled to relief. «The Debt Recovery Tribunal adjudged the KFA (Kingfisher Airlines) debt at Rs 6203 crores including Rs 1200 crores of interest. The FM announced in Parliament that through the ED, Banks have recovered Rs 14,131.60 crores from me against the judgement debt of Rs 6203 crores and I am still an economic offender. Unless the ED and Banks can legally justify how they have taken more than two times the debt, I am entitled to relief which I will pursue,» Mallya said.

Patil, addressing the assembly on Tuesday, shared details about the ongoing efforts. “The Infrastructure Development Corporation Karnataka Ltd (IDeCK) is surveying various proposed sites for the best location. Once it finishes the survey, the report will be submitted to the Airport Authority of India (AAI),” he said. “AAI has the authority to finalise the location for the second airport in Bengaluru,” Patil added. The minister further explained that various factors would play a role in the decision-making process. These include connectivity, proximity to key areas, and the surrounding environment. «There will be some clarity on the location within a week,» Patil said.
