Chinese astronauts named Cai Xuzhe and Song Lingdong have reportedly set an absolutely new world record for the longest spacewalk while completing a nine-hour extravehicular activity (EVA) in the month of December this year, reported CNN.
According to CNN, this achievement actually surpasses the previous record of eight hours and 56 minutes which was held by US astronauts named James Voss and Susan Helms since the year 2001. The spacewalk was actually conducted outside the Tiangong space station with a major support from their crewmate Wang Haozhe who eventually remained inside.

The China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) announced that the astronauts wrapped up their EVA just before the clock stroke 10 pm according to Beijing time, while marking a significant milestone in China's expanding space program, asserted CNN. This accomplishment follows earlier records set by Chinese missions which also include an eight hour and 23 minute spacewalk by the Shenzhou-18 crew earlier this year.
It should also be noted that Song Lindong became the first ever Chinese astronaut who was born in the 1990s to complete such a long spacewalk.
