For Saudi crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman, why sports is more than just business
Mohammed Bin Salman, MBS for his devout, it may be the biggest victory yet in his push to use sport as a way to lure tourists, build influence and improve the country's image. “This is huge for MBS and the Saudi state. Arguably the pinnacle of their sports strategy so far,” said Stanis Elsborg, head of Play the Game, a Denmark-based research body into ethical standards in sport told Bloomberg. “But for MBS, it’s not just about hosting a tournament.” ALSO READ: Elon Musk's net worth reaches record high. Seven meme coins to buy now: DexBoss takes the lead over SHIB, DOGE, and Pepe
DexBoss is one of the noteworthy meme coins this season. DexBoss (DEBO) recently began its presale at $0.01 with the target to list at $0.0505. The token will power the DexBoss ecosystem and provide utility through a deflationary buyback-and-burn model that reduces supply to boost scarcity. DexBoss provides decentralised exchange functionalities similar to the ones in the centralised platforms. The model has a set number of tokens, and the demand keeps rising. It, therefore, means there will be long-term value for the investors. This is one opportunity for anyone entering the decentralised finance (DeFI) space.

Proposal to impose 35% GST on 'sin goods' not a good idea: SJM
Swadeshi Jagran Manch (SJM) has dubbed the proposal to introduce 35 per cent GST on «sin goods» like aerated beverages and tobacco products as a «bad idea» as it would lead to smuggling and loss of revenue for the country. Besides, other bodies like All India Consumer Products Distributors Federation (AICPDF) and Indian Sellers Collective — an umbrella body of trade associations and sellers across the country — have raised concerns on the recommendations of the GoM on GST rate rationalisation. Earlier this month, the Group of Ministers (GoM) recommended a special rate of 35 per cent on sin goods like aerated beverages, cigarettes, tobacco and related products. The GoM headed by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary also suggested rationalisation of tax rates on apparel. «Another slab in GST, in the name of luxury and sin goods is primarily a bad idea, which will defeat the very efficiency principle of taxation. Already, a need is being felt among economists that the present number of slabs should be reduced, and the highest 28 per cent slab be abolished,» SJM national co-convenor Ashwani Mahajan said.

Volkswagen, unions likely to strike deal in small hours or break off till next year, source says
Volkswagen and German unions will most likely either reach a deal in the early hours of Wednesday or adjourn until the new year, a source familiar with discussions said on Tuesday, as the two sides strive to reach a cost-cutting pact before Christmas. After a 13-hour negotiation round on Monday ending after midnight, talks are expected to stretch even further into the early hours of Wednesday, the source said, declining to be named because discussions are private. Both Volkswagen and labour leaders have expressed a keen interest in a deal this year, but they remain far apart on key issues, including the possibility of plant closures, which labour representatives adamantly oppose but which the carmaker insists it cannot rule out.

As bitcoin soars, luxury brands consider accepting crypto payments
high-end fashion brands and retailers, prompting further interest in offering cryptocurrencies as a means of payment to tap in to fresh pockets of wealth and build loyalty with crypto investors. Until recently, only a handful of luxury brands including LVMH watch labels Hublot and Tag Heuer as well as Kering-owned fashion brands Gucci and Balenciaga have experimented with crypto payment offers. In recent weeks, upscale French luxury department store Printemps announced it was teaming up with the world's largest crypto exchange, Binance, and French financial tech company Lyzi to accept cryptocurrencies including bitcoin and ethereum in its stores in France — becoming the first European department store to do so. The move, coming as bitcoin rises, has been noticed by other brands and retailers who are showing interest in joining in.

Arm, Qualcomm lawyers grill ex-Apple executive in chip design battle
Qualcomm grilled a former Apple executive on Tuesday about a key question for the future of the chip industry: Who owns the intellectual property built on top of Arm's computing architecture? At stake in a trial in U.S. federal court in Delaware this week is the fate of Qualcomm's push into the laptop business, where it is helping partners such as Microsoft try to regain ground that Windows computers lost to Apple after the iPhone maker introduced its own custom chips. Arm's flagship product is a computing architecture that competes against Intel's architecture and is ubiquitous in smartphones and increasingly used in laptops and data centers. Competing computing architectures are the reason that, until relatively recently, most smartphone apps did not work on most laptops.
