Telecom service providers want big OTT players such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video that generate large data traffic to pay a mutually-decided fair charge to create and maintain digital telecom infrastructure.

Domestic flyer traffic rises 4.9% in September
domestic air traffic saw a 4.9% increase, reaching 13 million passengers, up from 12.24 million in September 2023. This rise comes despite a slight drop from 13.1 million flyers in August. The increase is attributed to a continuous demand for air travel, although aircraft supply constraints remain a challenge. IndiGo continued to dominate the market, holding 63% of the share and achieving an on-time performance of 69.2%. Air India ranked second with a 15.1% share and a slightly higher on-time performance at 68.1%. Vistara followed with 10% of the market and a 69.1% on-time rate.

Bengaluru weather leads to heavy flooding at Manyata Tech Park: Netizens demand WFH options as video goes viral
Manyata Tech Park, one of the largest tech hubs in India, experienced significant flooding on October 15 due to relentless rainfall that began early Tuesday morning. The heavy downpour left roads within the 300-acre tech park submerged, causing substantial disruptions for the tech workforce. Videos shared on social media captured the extent of the flooding, showcasing waterlogged streets that rendered access difficult. The North Bangalore Post, an X handle, reported, “The roads in Manyata Tech Park on the ORR Bengaluru are under water. With rains continuing without a break from 3 AM, expect more flooding in and around this area.” The sight of “lakes and waterfalls” forming within the tech park was also noted by users, highlighting the severity of the situation. Traffic congestion has become a pressing issue, particularly at the Hebbal flyover, where gridlock is anticipated to worsen during the evening rush hour. To avoid being stranded, weather bloggers like Bengaluru Weatherman advised office-goers to leave work early. They tweeted, “With more rain in store for the coming 2-3 hours, it's better to leave the office whenever you get a chance.”

First stage of anti-pollution plan activated in Delhi-NCR
pollution control panel for Delhi-NCR on Monday directed state governments in the region to implement the first stage of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) as the capital's air quality was in the 'poor' category for the second consecutive day. The Stage I of GRAP, a set of winter-specific anti-pollution measures, focuses on controlling pollution through dust mitigation at construction sites, proper waste management, and regular road cleaning. It mandates strict checks on polluting vehicles, better traffic management, and emission controls in industries, power plants, and brick kilns. The first stage also bans open burning of waste, limits the use of diesel generators, and prohibits the use of coal or firewood in eateries. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's 24-hour average air quality index stood at 234 (poor category) as of 4 pm on Monday.
