Initially, there was some resistance from a portion of the driving community, causing BIAL to temporarily halt the fee collection. However, a source within BIAL clarified that taxi aggregators and airport taxi operators, who have their own designated lanes, are exempt from this new fee. Private vehicles were earlier not charged for the first seven minutes of access to the pick-up lanes but had to incur a fee of Rs 150 for the subsequent seven minutes. Commercial vehicles, on the other hand, were to be charged Rs 150 for the first seven minutes and Rs 300 for the next seven minutes. Buses were required to pay Rs 600, and Tempo Travellers Rs 300. If a ticket is lost, a fixed fee of Rs 600 applied.

European Commission is set to increase Schengen visa fees from June 11, 2024. Slovenia’s Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs confirmed that while visa fees for adults will increase from €80 to €90 for adult applicants beginning, visas for children aged six to twelve will also increase, from €40 to €45. Furthermore, countries not cooperating with the readmission of their irregularly staying citizens in the EU may face visa fees rising to €135 or €180. «The European Commission adopted a decision to increase short stay Schengen visa (visa type C) fees worldwide by 12 per cent. The increase will apply worldwide as of 11 June 2024,» the Slovenian government said in a statement. The fee increase follows a review of EU visa fees in December 2023, which occurs every three years as mandated by the Schengen Visa Code. The EU cites inflation and civil servants' salaries as reasons for the hike. The last increase was in February 2020 when fees rose from €60 to €80.

Authorities reported that eight devotees lost their lives and numerous others sustained injuries when a bus they were traveling in caught fire on the Kundali-Manesar-Palwal Expressway in Haryana on Friday night. The devotees, who had been on a pilgrimage to Mathura and Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh, were returning when the fire erupted. The bus, which carried over 60 individuals from a family, including women and children, all hailing from Punjab, became engulfed in flames. Observing the escalating situation, a passing motorcycle rider trailed the bus and alerted the driver, prompting a halt.
