Pune has already have already committed a crime which can lead to an adult being sentenced for life! 17-year-old Vedant Agarwal hit headlines when his Porsche SUV, knocked down two people who were travelling on a two-wheeler. The victims a pair of IT employees -Ashwini Koshta (24) and Aneesh Awadhiya, died on the spot. Both of them were from Madhya Pradesh. The incident took place at Kalyani Nagar, Pune.
The vehicle, which did not have a registration number, collided with the roadside pavement railings after striking the pair. A video circulating on social media depicted a crowd of individuals assaulting the driver as he attempted to extricate himself from the crashed car.
An eye witness told the police that The Porsche was traveling at a speed of approximately 200-240 km/hr, with three occupants, including Vedant, in an intoxicated state.
The incident sparked outrage on the Internet when Agarwal was granted bail within 15 hours. As per an India Today report, bail was granted as the court didn’t find the crime ‘serious’. He was also told to write a 300-word essay on the topic, ‘Effect of road accident and their solution.’
Agarwal was instructed to familiarize himself with traffic regulations and provide a report within 15 days.
The teenager's parents are tasked with ensuring that he avoids future infractions, refrains from associating with negative influences, and attends sessions with the Juvenile Justice Board.
Additionally, he will undergo mandatory counseling.
