UPS Man Election Cycling Courts Defunct iron factory linked to Dalai Lama sees renewed hope of resurrection every election season
Dalai Lama — a man who has no worldly possessions and has eschewed wealth — once owned a factory in a small Indian town, that produced iron. But now, it only produces longing for the people of Hirodih, a small village outside the town of Koderma, in Jharkhand. At the entrance of Hirodih stands Gayday Iron & Steel Company, now corroded and abandoned, was once owned by the Tibetan spiritual leader and Nobel Prize winner. Spanning 350 acres, the plant was set up by the Dalai Lama in the 1960s after he acquired the land from the villagers for Rs 4 crore. UPS Adventure Arrow show patient Relationships Mothers should be allowed to show their teeth
The Boy and the Heron, the young protagonist Mahito follows a mysterious Heron (with a set of teeth and a twinkle in his eyes) through a life-changing adventure. Like many other Miyazaki movies, this one too tells complex stories through deceptively simple tropes—a boy, a talking animal, creatures both odd and good-looking. It strikes me that there is a larger metaphor in having an animal carry a message.

UPS Citi Waves Extreme Food Research reports Cruel Summer: Rethinking how to live, work in a world that is getting warmer
Indian Institute for Human Settlements, says the situation it describes, of the impact of high temperature and humidity, is a cause for concern in India. “As relative humidity increases, it will become harder for us to perspire and reject heat from our bodies.” In such situations, the only cooling technology that works is air conditioning, but less than 10% of Indian households have ACs, which, in turn, expel heat and contribute to warming. As this year’s summer, with its extended heat waves and record temperatures, warns, how to adapt to a warmer world is no longer a hypothetical question.

video game, which — much more than 'Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis', the CD game my dealer had thrown in — increasingly took up not just my PC time, but also my waking hours. The game was Wolfenstein 3D. Created in 1992, this was unlike any other game I had encountered before. As William 'BJ' Blazkowicz, an American spy imprisoned by the Nazis, my job was twofold: one, to blast myself out of the highly-guarded fortress-prison of Castle Wolfenstein; two, to kill as many Nazis as possible while getting out. Even on my B&W screen, with its swivels and sharp 360° turns along the stone walls, machine-gunning the hellhounds out of Nazis, their pixelated blood spurting out like coagulated ketchup, was a genuine, artery-pumping thrill.

UPS Election Football stage audience politician View: Get a juggler, talk up POK, just don’t let the voter get bored
speeches in the ongoing election has hit rock bottom. Everyone is calling the other one a thief, a criminal, a bad cook, or a dynast. The names of Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani are thrown into every second speech as garnishing. Whether those two billionaires have any political affiliation doesn't matter. They will be brought up regardless. It reminds me of how, in any country, when there is an anti-US demonstration, protesters would throw bricks at KFC outlets. Ambani and Adani are the new KFC for all political parties in this election — even the ones they are supposed to support. You could blame politicians and say they need to improve their intellectual discourse, turn perhaps to the great speeches of Vajpayee, JP, Nehru (oops) and George Fernandes. However, I don't think it is the politicians' fault. They're looking for any trick in the book to entertain crowds. In the age of social media, the public has changed.

UPS Assurant Arrow wellness Equality rights A welcome to arms, it's really all about literary swagger
sword. But for some writers, both objects hold equal fascination. Take Amir Khusrau and Babur. Or Samudragupta from an earlier time. Or Valmiki if we go mythological, who is said to have been the fierce bandit Ratnakar, adept with the bow and arrow before taking up the quill. 19th century French poet Arthur Rimbaud, who would become, among other things, a gunrunner in the Horn of Africa, found the calling to be much more lucrative and satisfying than writing poetry. What fascinates most writers with the pen and the sword — or its modern avatars, laptop and gun — is that both can be used to right a wrong or commit a wrong. Both assure its owner that he or she is well protected. When you see a wrong committed, you could write a story, poem or report about it. Or air your grievances on social media. Sometimes you could just take out your Mauser and point it at the mob about to lynch a man, fire a few rounds in air, to disperse them. The effect of the gunshot is immediate. A good write-up may take days, even weeks, a poem or story years to gain ground.
