Semiconductor Manufacturing Company suspended shipments to China-based chip designer Sophgo after a chip it made was found on a Huawei AI processor, according to two people familiar with the matter. Sophgo had ordered chips from TSMC that matched the one found on Huawei's Ascend 910B, the people said. Huawei is restricted from buying the technology to protect U.S. national security. Reuters could not determine how the chip ended up on the Huawei product. Sophgo, which is affiliated with cryptocurrency mining equipment company Bitmain, did not respond to requests for comment. TSMC declined comment. Huawei did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Meta has announced a partnership with the ministry of electronics and information technology to set up a Centre for Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI), the latter said. The IT ministry said the Centre for Generative AI, to be set up at the Indian Institute of Jodhpur, will work towards advancing open-source AI in India. “The partnership will enable development of indigenous AI applications, advance skill development in AI, boost research capabilities with the aim of contributing to India’s AI mission of ensuring tech sovereignty and the vision of building AI solutions that are tailor made for India,” IT ministry said.

Solex Energy on Saturday said it has partnered with State Bank of India (SBI) to offer solar financing options for commercial, industrial, and institutional customers. As part of the partnership, SBI will offer solar financing through loans up to Rs 10 crore for solar projects under its Surya Shakti Solar Finance Scheme across India, Solex Energy said in a statement. «The collaboration aims to make solar energy accessible, affordable, and a driving force for India's renewable energy future.
