As Hurricane Helene approaches Florida, a federal emergency has been declared.
Florida has declared a state of emergency and is undergoing evacuations as Hurricane Helene approaches. Numerous counties, including Hillsborough and Pinellas, declared the closure of their schools. Several counties, including Sarasota and Charlotte, are under an order of evacuation. It is advised that those in the storm's possible path should be ready for a week or more without power. A state of emergency was proclaimed for almost the whole state by Governor Ron DeSantis. In a Tuesday news briefing, Governor Ron DeSantis stated that people still have time to prepare, review their hurricane plan, and make sure that they are executing their hurricane preparedness plan. Impacts might reach even farther, even if the storm is predicted to make landfall either in the Florida Panhandle or near the northern Gulf Coast. It is advised that residents in the possible path should get ready to go up to a week without power. Also Read :Julie Chrisley sent to 7 years in jail. Here's what has happened

Cryptocurrency fraternity wants Donald Trump's victory in US election 2024. Here's why?
Donald Trump and incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris possess totally different aims and ambition regarding Crypto. Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump is pretty clear with his Crypto viewpoint but Democratic Presidential candidate Kamala Harris is still in a grey area regarding Crypto. Donald Trump is gaining huge support from the crypto enthusiasts as Donald Trump has promised during his political campaigns that he would make US the crypto capital of the planet and if he ends up winning the US Presidential Election, then he will build a strategic national bitcoin stockpile which would be pretty similar to the gold reserves of the US government, reported BBC News. There's a case for RBI to cut rates: Jahangir Aziz, JP Morgan Chase
core inflation headed further south points to likely excess capacity in various pockets of the economy, buttressing the case for an immediate cut in policy rates, although geopolitics could have a disproportionate say on the cost of debt globally, said Jahangir Aziz, head, emerging markets economics at JP Morgan Chase. India's June core consumer inflation, which strips out the impact of transitory fuel and food prices, was at 3.14% — the lowest since the inception of the gauge in 2012. Core inflation has been declining since the beginning of the year. «In any economy, when you have sustained declines in core inflation, it not only means that the country has excess capacity, but also that the excess capacity is widening and not narrowing,» Aziz told ET. «So, if you have a country in which the excess capacity is widening, then your interest rates are far too restrictive and, therefore, interest rate needs to be recalibrated lower.»

External debt in comfort zone and better than many others, says FM Sitharaman
debt-to-GDP ratio at 18.7%, its debt service ratio at 6.7% and foreign exchange reserves-to-external debt ratio at 97.4% are «within the comfort zone» and way better than many middle-income countries, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said. In a foreword to a status report released by the finance ministry, Sitharaman underscored that India's external debt «remains sustainable and prudently managed». The country's external debt rose 6.4% from a year before to touch $663.8 billion as of March 2024, according to the status report, firmed up by the department of economic affairs.

Going to take another 10 years to produce a Grand Slam champion: Leander Paes
Leander Paes believes India needs at least a decade to produce another Grand Slam champion, urging former players to nurture young talent to transform the nation into a sports superpower capable of not only hosting the 2036 Olympics but also winning medals. «I think it's probably going to take another 10 years to produce a Grand Slam champion. I think that the focus needs to be on the grassroots base level and then the feeder system coming up, then you churn out the numbers,» Paes said on the sidelines of the auctions of the Tennis Premier League (TPL) here on Wednesday. «I 100% believe we have tremendous talent in India, but I believe it's people like myself along with the governance, along with the whole sporting fraternity, to reach out to that talent in rural areas in places where maybe those children are not as fortunate as you and I, to have the parents who gave us that platform to stand on. »I think it's a responsibility for us to reach out there and find that talent, test that talent and once you pick it, bring it into academies where you nurture the talent," added Paes, who was recently inducted into the sport's Hall of Fame.

Strong case for a rate cut by RBI: Jahangir Aziz, JP Morgan
With core inflation touching an all-time low, which is an indication of excess capacity in the economy, it makes a strong case for rate cuts by the Reserve Bank of India, says Jahangir Aziz, Head Emerging Market Economics at JP Morgan in an interview with The Economic Times. He also talks about how debt flows from the index inclusion could help in easing the balance of payments along with softer bond yields. Even as geopolitics is crucial, it is the outcomes of the US elections which will have a bigger influence on the markets. Below are edited excerpts from the conversation: What is your assessment of the 50 bps rate cut by the Fed last week and its impact on the Indian market ? We had expected 50 basis points of rate cut after the July non-farm payroll came in.

Labour ministry directs EPFO to nudge employers and employees’ association to enroll workers under ELI scheme
labour ministry has directed the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation to engage with employers and employees’ associations and nudge them to enroll workers under the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI) schemes announced in the Budget. Labour secretary Sumita Dawra on Wednesday held a meeting with EPFO officials on the ELI schemes as EPFO is the implementing body for the three schemes to be administered by the ministry of labour and employment. “The labour secretary stressed on the need for the field officers to fully understand the various provisions of the scheme and to hold regular interactions with employers’ and employees’ associations to give the required push to the scheme,” the ministry said in a statement issued after the meeting.

Dollar hits 14-month low against euro, yuan dips
dollar hit a 14-month low against the euro on Wednesday as traders bet that the Federal Reserve will make another large rate cut at its November meeting on weakening labor optimism, while the yuan eased on growing doubts about the impact of a new round of Chinese stimulus. The greenback tumbled on Tuesday after data showed that U.S. consumer confidence dropped by the most in three years in September amid mounting fears over the labor market.
