Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is likely to present the annual budget 2025, her eighth consecutive Union Budget, on February 1. The annual budget details the planned expenditures and revenues for the fiscal year, which runs from April 1 to March 31. Expenditures cover areas such as public welfare programs, imports, military funding, salaries, pensions, and debt interest. Revenue is generated through taxes, public sector enterprises, government borrowing via bonds, and other sources.

Delhi High Court has directed the chief operating officer and chief executive officer of SpiceJet to appear before it in a plea seeking compliance of over USD 6.03 lakh in payment to the aircraft engines lessors. Justice Manmeet PS Arora «specifically denied» the request of the counsel for judgement debtor, SpiceJet, for the appearance of the two senior officers before the court through video conferencing. «The chief operating officer (COO) and chief executive officer (CEO) of the judgement debtor are directed to remain present in court on the next date of hearing, that is, January 16, 2025,» the court said in its order on December 10. The court was hearing an application by the decree holder and aircraft engine lessor Team France 01 SAS and another, seeking a direction for the compliance of the consent order passed on May 29 wherein the airline was directed to make the payment of USD 6,03,870.82 to the decree holders.

Vijayendra on Sunday strongly dismissed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and ruling Congress leaders' charges that he attempted to bribe former state Minority Commission Chairperson Anwar Manippady to hush up his report on the Waqf encroachments. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in a statement on Saturday said that Manippady had publicly stated that Vijayendra visited his house during Yediyurappa's tenure as CM and offered Rs 150 crore to be silent about the Waqf property encroachment report. Meanwhile, Manippady has denied that no such offer was made to him by Vijayendra while Home Minister G Parameshwara stated that there was video footage showing Manippady making such charge. Questioning whether there was any logic in the allegation, Vijayendra said, the Congress and Siddaramaiah seem to be «perturbed» by the allegations of corruption and scam against them, especially by the MUDA site allotment case against the CM.
