England’s spring of discontent
In the UK, last week for the second annual London Defence Conference at King’s College, I was happy to see that climate change had not yet disrupted British weather. Tourists scurried miserably across the slippery streets, jackets buttoned against a cold London spring. But the weather was warm and welcoming compared with the mood among Conservative Party members.

Gaza War: Israel is losing badly in the battle of perceptions
US support. Yet, this backing could run thin if America re-invests in the wisdom of a “decent respect for the opinions of mankind" in the context of how its overseas image is shaped by its Israel policy. It makes sense for all sides to grab an olive branch that puts an end to hostilities.

Opec heavyweights are cheating on their targets
death of Iran’s president and the escalating war in Gaza, prices of Brent crude, the global benchmark, have stayed within $2 of $82 a barrel since the start of May. Part of the reason why OPEC is failing to keep prices high is because its members are failing to keep to their output targets. In March the group’s leaders and Russia extended production cuts, vowing a reduction of 2.2m barrels a day (b/d), or 2% of global supply, until the end of June, on top of 3.7m b/d of previously agreed cuts for 2024.

Will there be 'The Sympathizer' Season 2? This is what Executive Producers Amanda Burrell and Susan Downey said
HBO on May 26, the most pertinent question that popped up was- will there be a sequel? This was supported by the fact that the end was not conclusive and it left enough scope for another season. Created by Park Chan-wook and Don McKellar, the miniseries revolves around the Captain (Hoa Xuande), a North Vietnamese spy in the South Vietnamese army. He escapes to the U.S. with his general toward the end of the Vietnam War.

Palestinian medics say Israeli airstrikes kill 35 in Gaza's Rafah as displaced people are hit
killed at least 35 people Sunday and hit tents for displaced people in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, and «numerous» others were trapped in flaming debris. Gaza's Health Ministry said women and children made up most of the dead and dozens of wounded. The attacks came two days after the International Court of Justice ordered Israel to end its military offensive in Rafah, where more than half of Gaza's 2.3 million population had sought shelter before Israel's incursion earlier this month. Tens of thousands of people remain in the area while many others have fled. Footage from the scene of the largest airstrike showed heavy destruction. Israel's army confirmed the strike and said it hit a Hamas installation and killed two senior Hamas militants. It said it was investigating reports that civilians were harmed. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant was in Rafah on Sunday and was briefed on the «deepening of operations» there, his office said.
