Study links climate change to decreased fish weight in oceans
Climate change may be causing more competition for food in oceans, leading to a reduction in the weight of fish, according to a study. Researchers at the University of Tokyo in Japan found that fish weight in the western North Pacific Ocean dipped in the 2010s due to warmer water limiting food supplies. They attributed the first period of weight loss to greater numbers of Japanese sardines, which increased competition with other species for food. «With higher temperatures, the ocean's upper layer becomes more stratified, and previous research has shown that larger plankton are replaced with smaller plankton and less nutritious gelatinous species, such as jellyfish,» Professor Shin-ichi Ito from the University of Tokyo said.

'Water Terrorism': Pak media on India completely stopping flow of Ravi river into Pakistan
Ravi River to Pakistan. Situated on the Punjab-Jammu and Kashmir border, this project will help Jammu and Kashmir region and Punjab to benefit as previously the water was destined for Pakistan. Some media outlets in Pakistan termed it as 'Water Terrorism' despite Indus Waters Treaty giving India exclusive rights over the water usage of the Ravi river. Pakistantoday.com.pk reported the news under the headline of "‘Water terrorism’ intensifies as India stops Ravi River water to Pakistan". The Dawn reported that a rally was organized in Lahore, calling for a review of the Indus Waters Treaty between Pakistan and India and restoration of the natural flow of rivers, including the Ravi. They urged the government to prevent toxic sewage from draining into the Ravi and other abandoned rivers. A Samma.tv report accused India of India persuing 'water terrorism' agenda. Coca-Cola brass to visit India this week with a 200-member team
Coca-Cola Co's global chairman and chief executive officer, James Quincey, will head a 220-member company leadership team on a potentially big-impact visit to India this week, executives aware of the plans told ET, pointing to New Delhi's rapidly ascending importance for the Atlanta-based beverage firm that is striving to drive sales in mature markets such as the US and Europe. India, the world's most populous and youngest country, is a top-five volume growth priority market for the maker of Coke and Sprite aerated drinks, Minute Maid juice and Kinley bottled water. «The executives are keen on meeting the government brass,» said one of the executives cited above. «They will also be engaging with bottling partners that now operate close to half of Coca-Cola's bottling business in India — and are crucial since they will infuse capital into the business.»

Montana Supreme Court rules in favor of major copper mine
major copper mine proposed in central Montana can proceed after the state's Supreme Court ruled Monday that officials had adequately reviewed the project's environmental effects. The court's 5-2 decision overturns a 2022 lower court ruling that effectively blocked work on the Black Butte mine north of White Sulphur Springs by revoking its permit. Attorneys for Montana Trout Unlimited and other conservation groups claimed the mine's permit from the Department of Environmental Quality, or DEQ, was unlawful.
