The eclectic innovator: Sam Pitroda's unconventional roadmap to success

On the 40th anniversary this year of the Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the pioneering Indian telecom institution, spare a thought for its zesty founder who is still making waves, though perhaps not quite in the way he would like to. In the evolutionary history of Indian technology and innovation, Satyanarayan (Sam) Gangaram Pitroda’s status as India’s original tech guru is secure, though he doesn’t get enough credit for the telecom revolution that has seen the country’s teledensity jump from around 2% in the 1980s to over 90% today.

Digitisation wave leading to demand for chief digital officers in banks and NBFCs
Many expect digital transformation to have a dual impact: reduce the need for traditional field sales roles and ensure greater transformation in functions such as risk management and technology. Another key impact of this shift will be the rise in demand for chief digital officers (CDOs) in the sector. With the evolution of technology, the CDO has an even more critical job in revolutionising lending. The success of the CFO depends on proving a positive and tangible return on the investment.

Indian IT company asks for 'personal life should be sorted' in job advertisement
job posting is going viral due to one unusual requirement that has sparked discussions on social media. The company, based in Navi Mumbai, is looking for a Talent Acquisition Executive in its BPO division. While most of the listed qualifications appear standard for the industry, one particular line has caught the internet’s attention: «Personal life should be sorted with no baggage.» This last requirement, shared on Naukri.com, quickly made its way to a popular Reddit forum, where it was met with a wave of backlash and criticism. Many users found the implication of needing a «sorted» personal life invasive and reflective of the growing culture of work dominating personal time.

Walkie-talkies yesterday, fridges tomorrow? Lebanon residents face new fears of exploding devices
Lebanon is in the grip of panic following a second wave of deadly explosions targeting Hezbollah’s communication devices. Just one day after hundreds of pagers detonated simultaneously across the country, a new round of explosions rocked Lebanon, leaving at least 26 people dead and thousands injured. The devices, believed to have been tampered with, were vital to Hezbollah operations and have been widely used by the militant group. The coordinated nature of the attacks, targeting pagers, walkie-talkies, laptops, and even solar panels, has heightened tensions between Hezbollah and Israel, who are engaged in long-standing hostilities.
