China’s solar panel giants say prices are near the bottom
prices for solar panels, which have slashed profits across the sector, don’t have much room to fall further, according to the chairmen of two of the industry’s biggest firms. The current slump is “irrational” and there’s only a small probability it will continue, Jinko Solar Co. Chairman Li Xiande said in a joint presentation hosted by the Shanghai Stock Exchange. Li answered written questions from investors at the event on Tuesday along with executives from other firms, including Trina Solar Co. and CSI Solar Co. The companies are trying to turn a corner after solar manufacturers saw profits vanish as a wave of new factories that were aimed at capturing a growing market came online in the past year. Instead, the new supply has overwhelmed demand, sending panel prices to record lows and annihilating margins.“The price of photovoltaic modules is currently at a low level, and there’s limited room for further decline,” Trina Chairman Gao Jifan said at the presentation.

Blue collar and grey collar consumer jobs growing, can't offset fall in IT white collar jobs: Dr Pawan Goyal, Naukri.com
Dr Pawan Goyal, ED and Chief Business Officer, Naukri.com, says “the salary growth is expected to remain in single digits. This has moderated from the time period of 22 when the great resignation wave was underway. So, 6% to 7%, somewhere in that range is where we expect the salary growth.” We were in fact quite surprised to see the consumer side starting to witness high demand. Talk to us about that to start with from that side. Dr Pawan Goyal: If you look at the overall JobSpeak index, it has been flattish. It is minus three on a year-on-year basis and minus one on month-on-month basis. From a statistical standpoint, I would consider that flattish. Over the consumer sectors that are doing very well, is oil and gas; FMCG; travel, tourism, and hospitality; as well as auto. They have been consistently growing for several months at a time and April numbers are in line with that.

Equitable survival: Climate action needs to be gender just
The European Court of Human Rights recently ruled in favour of KlimaSeniorinnen (Senior Women for Climate Protection), an association of more than 2,000 Swiss women, all above the age of 64, who had filed a case against the Swiss government for its failure to cut greenhouse gas emissions, which has put them at a greater risk of dying during heatwaves because of their age and gender. The ruling made the Swiss government accountable for violating its citizens’ Right to Life and Health, and created a binding legal precedent for all 46 countries that are part of the European Convention on Human Rights.

"I am a politician, not a servant of Gandhi family": Congress' Amethi candidate KL Sharma responds to BJP's 'peon' jibe
Amethi candidate KL Sharma on Sunday said he was a 'pure politician' and not a servant of the family, adding that Union Minister Smriti Irani, who holds the seat currently, will be defeated in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Speaking to on Sunday, the Congress leader said, «It was a decision taken by the party high command. Nobody had been finalised as a candidate for this seat earlier. However, I can say with full confidence and conviction that I will defeat Smriti Irani. This is a big statement I am making today. 'Mai koi Naukri nahi kar raha Gandhi Parivar ki' (I am not a servant of Gandhi family here). I am a seasoned politician and have been so for many years now. I came here in 1983 through my association with the Youth Congress. I am not on the payroll of the Congress. I am a pure politician.» On the BJP's increased vote share in Amethi and Raebareli in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Sharma said it was a pass muster at distracting public attention from the 'real' issues and that is what they have been doing over the last 10 years in power at the Centre.

Dortmund, Bayern Munich and the siren song of yesterday
Dortmund must have felt the stirring of some distant memory. Waves of attacks pounded down on Paris Saint-Germain, now dizzied and wearied. The world shimmered with possibility. A place in the Champions League final felt, for a moment, close enough to touch. This is how it used to be, or at least some approximation of it, back in the days when Dortmund made Europe shake. Gregor Kobel, the team's goalkeeper, was pulling off daring turns in his own penalty area. Mats Hummels, a fixture in the lineup a decade ago, was spraying languid passes with the outside of his foot. Jadon Sancho and Karim Adeyemi were electric, relentless. There is a chance, of course, that it will all count for nothing. More than a chance, really: Dortmund may live to regret that a second goal never came. PSG had enough opportunities to hint at its threat, too, hitting the post twice in the space of 10 seconds at one point. It may not prove quite so forgiving in the return leg in Paris on Tuesday.
