Adani issue: Primary consideration for investors should be returns and efficacy of cash flow: Abizer Diwanji
Abizer Diwanji, Founder, NeoStrat Advisors LLP, says people will take the decision on the basis of whatever their compulsions are. Institutional investors, especially from the US, will have bigger compulsions in their country, being answerable to their own investors, and they may take a different call. The primary consideration for a normal investor should be returns and the efficacy of cash flow. As far as we have been covering banking, there is a reputational risk, there is a financial risk. But despite that, you have seen that Japanese lenders may continue to support Adani. How would these banks be assessing the situation according to you? Abizer Diwanji: First of all, banks are very focused on lending and lending to specific projects which have a high probability of cash flows, that is the most important thing. Now, given the group's ability to construct and execute contracts well, I think from a credit risk perspective which is the main criteria on which lending is done, most people would take a view that there is no problem with the credit.

Society vanishes when fertility rate falls below 2.1: RSS chief warns of India's population decline
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday stated that India's declining population is a concerning issue, noting that according to modern population science, a society vanishes when its fertility rate falls below 2.1. He also underlined that the fertility rate should be above three or four for the society to survive. «The decline in population is a matter of concern. Modern population science says that when the fertility rate of a society goes below 2.1, that society vanishes from the earth. The society gets destroyed even without any crisis. In this way, many languages and societies have disappeared. The population should not fall below 2.1. Our country's population policy was decided in 1998 or 2002, and it also mentions that the population of a society should not be less than 2.1. We need more than two or three; this is what population science says. The number is important for the survival of society,» Bhagwat said, addressing the Kathale Kul Sammelan in Nagpur.

Trudeau promises border helicopters at ‘very productive’ Trump meeting: source
Donald Trump says a surprise meeting with Justin Trudeau at his Florida home was “very productive,” after the prime minister flew down to discuss the growing threat of American tariffs on Canadian goods, the border and national defence. On Friday evening, Trudeau landed in Florida and travelled to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club for a hastily arranged dinner and discussion with the United States’ incoming president that a senior Canadian government source said was successful. In a post on his social media site, Truth Social, Trump said the meeting between the two had gone well.“I just had a very productive meeting with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada, where we discussed many important topics that will require both Countries to work together to address,” Trump wrote. He said the two had discussed the illegal fentanyl and the toxic drug overdose crisis, as well as what Trump called “the massive trade deficit” between the United States and Canada.“I made it very clear that the United States will no longer sit idly by as our Citizens become victims to the scourge of this Drug Epidemic, caused mainly by the Drug Cartels, and Fentanyl pouring in from China,” Trump wrote. “Too much death and hardship!”A senior Canadian government source told Global News the meeting, which ran from around 7:45 p.m.

Are there really ghosts in the voting machine?
Nitish Kumar joins hands with BJP. The fact that states and UTs like Delhi, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Himachal and, most recently, Jharkhand have EVMs that are completely unaffected by suspected poltergeist activity adds to the mystery. Some people like Mallikarjun Kharge, Sharad Pawar and Mayawati, have a rational bent of mind. They believe that EVM anomalies are not the product of ghosts in the machine, but of human tampering. They have demanded that the ballot paper — their metric of reliability from the good old 80s-90s when voters chose 'better' than they do today, except in states where they continue to choose correctly — be brought back.

Canada's Trudeau says he had an "excellent conversation" with Trump in Florida after tariffs threat
Justin Trudeau said Saturday he had an «excellent conversation» with Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago club after the president-elect's threat to impose significant tariffs on two of America's leading trade partners raised alarms in Ottawa and Mexico City. It was unclear, as Trudeau headed back to Canada from Florida, whether the conversation had alleviated Trump's concerns. A person familiar with the details of the leaders' hastily arranged meeting Friday night said it was a «positive wide-ranging dinner that lasted three hours.» The official, who was not authorised to discuss the matter publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity, said topics included trade, border security, fentanyl, defence, Ukraine, NATO, China, the Mideast and pipelines, as well as the the Group of Seven (G7) meeting in Canada next year. The Republican president-elect has threatened to impose tariffs on products from Canada and Mexico if the countries don't stop what he called the flow of drugs and migrants across their borders. He said he would impose a 25 per cent tax on all products entering the US from Canada and Mexico as one of his first executive orders when he takes office in January.
