The decision will primarily consider two key factors: passenger load and connectivity to the existing Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). The exclusivity clause with Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), which restricts the establishment of another airport within a 150-kilometer radius, ends in 2032. This clause will allow the potential development of a new airport by 2033. Considering the time required for land acquisition and compensation for landowners, the government has initiated the planning process early. Patil also addressed the Tamil Nadu government's decision to build an airport in Hosur, stating that it needs to be examined whether the exclusivity clause with BIAL applies to it.

Exports of mangoes from West Bengal's Malda district have been hit this year as exporters have failed to secure remunerative prices from overseas buyers, while sellers are getting lucrative prices in the domestic market, officials said on Saturday. Importers from the UK and the UAE had initially shown interest, which could not materialise in shipments due to price disagreements, they said. Sellers, however, are getting good responses from the domestic market as around 17 tonnes of Malda mangoes were sold between Rs 100 and Rs 150 a kg in an expo in Delhi, the officials said. Wholesale prices surged by 50-80 per cent due to a combination of low-crop and high-quality produce.

Private equity firm TA Associates Thursday said it has led the acquisition of a significant minority stake in Vastu Housing Finance Corp, a pan-India diversified lending institution. TA Associates bought the stake along with existing investors, including the International Finance Corporation, according to a release. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. People familiar with the matter said the investors bought the stake for about ₹3,340 crore ($400 million) and it valued Vastu at ₹10,000 crore. The lender also got about $75 million in primary capital infusion. Founded in 2015 by Sandeep Menon and Sujay Patil, Vastu is backed by Multiples Alternate Asset Management since inception. Other investors include Norwest Venture Partners, Creation Investments, 360 ONE Asset Management and Faering Capital. Vastu has a loan book of about ₹10,000 crore as of FY24-end. It has more than 230 branch locations across 13 states.

Anvita Group, a Hyderabad based real estate developer will invest Rs 2,000 crore for a residential project at Kollur near Hyderabad. Spread over 12.9 acres, the project will be developed in two phases. The first phase, which will come up in 3.5 acres, will have two towers of 15 floors each and will have 450 units in total. “In the second phase, four towers of 36 floors each will come up in 9.25 acres. We will hand over all 1,400 units of the 2nd phase to customers in 2027,” said Atchuta Rao Boppana, chairman and managing director, Anvita Group.

Russia's defence ministry said on Tuesday that it had destroyed five Ukrainian SU-27 fighter jets and damaged two more the Myrhorod airfield in Ukraine's Poltava region with Iskander-M missiles. The ministry published footage of the attack which showed smoke and flames rising from an airfield. «As a result of the Russian strike, five active SU-27 multi-purpose fighters were destroyed and two were damaged,» the ministry said.

IIT-Madras, Archan Bhattacharya, from Sonarpur near Kolkata, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly stabbing and grievously injuring a neighbour of a family friend, along with the neighbour's wife and son. The attack was reportedly in retaliation for the killing of a stray dog, according to Monotosh Chakraborty in a TOI report. Archan, who travelled from Chennai, has been charged with multiple offences, including attempted murder. The injured family members are receiving treatment at MR Bangur Hospital in Kolkata. Investigators revealed that the dispute arose between the families of Gobindo Adhikari and Subhash Debnath, who have been long-time neighbours in the Chouhati area of Sonarpur. The conflict centred around the Debnath family's practice of feeding stray dogs, which the Adhikari family claimed led to the animals entering their house. In May, the Adhikaris allegedly beat one of the stray dogs, which succumbed to its injuries a few days later.

Uttarakhand government here on Saturday. The decision was taken at a meeting of the state cabinet chaired here recently by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and will end the monopoly of men in cooperative institutions, an official release said. The order issued on International Cooperative Day will ensure the participation of women in 10 district cooperative banks, 670 multipurpose cooperative societies and other top cooperative institutions in the state, an official release said. Women will also get the quota in Uttarakhand State Cooperative Bank, State Cooperative Federation, Housing and Construction Cooperative Federation, Regional Co-operative Union, Consumer Cooperative Federation, and Silk Federation among others, it said.

Mizoram in giving shelter to Zo refugees from neighbouring Bangladesh, Chief Minister Lalduhoma has told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that his government would not be able to push them back, an official statement said. An official of the state home department said that nearly 2,000 Zo ethnic people from Bangladesh have taken refuge in Mizoram since 2022. During a brief meeting with Modi in New Delhi on Saturday, Lalduhoma informed him that his government cannot push back or deport Zo ethnic people from Bangladesh's Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT), the statement said. Mizos share ethnic ties with the refugees from Bangladesh.

China's central bank refrained from gold purchases to its reserves for a second consecutive month in June, official data showed on Sunday. The pause by the People's Bank of China (PBOC) started in May, when spot gold prices hit a record high. The previous 18 months of consistent buying by the PBOC, along with demand from other central banks, contributed to the gold rally from March to May. China held 72.80 million troy ounces of gold at the end of June, unchanged from the end of May, the data showed. The value of China's gold reserves fell to $169.70 billion from $170.96 billion.

Kannada District Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan issued an order that mentions the closure of Anganwadis, schools and pre-university colleges. «All Anganwadis, schools, and pre-university colleges on July 6, in response to a red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for heavy rainfall in the district,» Kannada District Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan said in an order.

More than 30% of the FY25 guidance of Rs 10,000 crore in pre-sales was achieved in Q1 FY25. The company has entered the premium housing market and launched two group housing projects in Gurugram, both receiving an overwhelming response, during the last two quarters. The company’s collections in Q1 FY25 grew by 102% to Rs 1,210 crore. Net debt reduced by 16% to Rs 980 crore at the end of Q1 FY25 in comparison to Rs 1,160 crore as at the end of FY24.
