lookout circular (LOC) has been issued against Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, in connection with the firing outside actor Salman Khan's house in Mumbai's Bandra earlier this month, a police official has said. The police are also likely to take custody of Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in a jail in Gujarat's Sabarmati, and was also contemplating invoking the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in the case, he said. Anmol Bishnoi had claimed responsibility for the firing and a probe too showed his involvement, following which the LOC was issued on Friday by the Mumbai police, the official added. «Anmol and Lawrence Bishnoi have been named as wanted accused in the case. Anmol Bishnoi stays in Canada and travels to the USA. However, the IP address of the Facebook post, through which he claimed responsibility of the firing, was traced to Portugal,» the official said.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife, Sunita Kejriwal, on Saturday set out to campaign for the Aam Aadmi Party in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. Saturday's roadshow is her maiden political apperance. «Your Chief Minister is a sher, nobody can break him or make him bow down,» Sunita Kejriwal said at the roadshow. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday hit out at the Narendra Modi government over jobs and inflation, saying the unemployment rate is the highest in the country. Addressing a campaign rally at Udgir in Latur district for the Congress candidate, she said 30 lakh posts are lying vacant in the Central government which have not been filled in the last ten years. «Hardships (of the people) and unemployment have risen in the last ten years. 70 crore people, youth are unemployed,» Gandhi said. The AICC general secretary also said GST (Goods and Services Tax) has been imposed on every (piece of) agricultural equipment and promised to abolish it after Congress comes to power.

RBL Bank reported a 30 percent growth ( year-on-year) to Rs 353 crore for the quarter ended March 24 on higher loan growth and containing bad loans. For the full financial year 2023-24, net profit rose 32 percent to Rs 1168 crore. The bank's board proposed a dividend of Rs l.50/- per share for the financial year 2023-24 subject to all shareholders' approval. " Growth in assets and liabilities, cross selling and our ( success) in maintaining asset quality contributed to the growth in profits" said Mr. R Subramania kumar, MD & CEO, RBL Bank.

YSRCP chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday released the party manifesto for the coming elections and promised to gradually hike welfare pensions from Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,500 per month and govern the state from Visakhapatnam. The chief minister noted that welfare pensions, which are currently at Rs 3,000 per month, will be raised to Rs 3,250 from January 2028 and subsequently to Rs 3,500 from January 2029. «Immediately after YSRCP forms the government in 2024, Visakhapatnam will be made the executive capital as the seat of the government. It will be developed as the growth engine for the state,» said Reddy, addressing a press conference.

KSB Ltd has reported a 7.75 per cent growth in net profit to Rs 43.1 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2024. It had clocked a net profit of Rs 40 crore in the year-ago period, the company said in a statement on Saturday. The company follows January to December as financial year.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said Narendra Modi has undermined the dignity of the Prime Minister's post with lies and inflaming people's sentiments. «Narendra Modi is very good at lying. They have marketed lies. He is trying to harm the dignity of people by saying irrelevant things, inflaming people's feelings, polarizing them, which undermines the dignity of the post of Prime Minister,» Siddaramaiah said, while addressing a press conference. He said Congress has complained about this to the Election Commission. «We have complained to the Election Commission regarding his speeches on reservation and 'Mangalsutra' issues. No action has been taken yet. Notice has been given to them. We look forward to taking action,» the Chief Minister said.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said the Centre has approved Rs 3,499 crore as drought relief and released only Rs 3,454 crore and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give the balance amount as soon as possible. The chief minister thanked the Supreme Court for warning the Central government and providing some drought relief to the state. «According to the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) rules, the state was supposed to be paid Rs 18,171 crore, but the Central government has only approved Rs 3,498.98 crore. This money is not sufficient for the drought relief. Our fight for the arrears will continue,» he told reporters here.

Speaking with ANI, Soma Sen Roy said, «Yesterday (April 26), we observed thunderstorm activities, especially in North-West India… There have been quite strong winds blowing. In states like Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan, we witnessed hailstorm activities.» The scientist explained that due to these thunderstorm activities, the chances of heatwave conditions are less likely to happen. «Due to these thunderstorm activities, there is a drop in temperature and there can be a decrease of 4 degrees to 5 degree Celsius and therefore, the chances of heatwave conditions in North India are less likely to happen,» she said

Congress on Saturday slammed as «false propaganda» Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'snatching quotas' remarks and alleged that it was the BJP that was against reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said the reality is that since 1950, reservation in education and employment has been possible when there have been Congress prime ministers and Congress governments at the helm. In a video statement, Ramesh said, «The prime minister is repeatedly indulging in the false propaganda that the Congress is against the reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs and wants to snatch it away. This is absolutely false.» «The reality is that the provisions in the Constitution for reservation for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were made because of B R Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and other Congress leaders. So, this was the contribution of the Congress,» Ramesh said.

Yes Bank reported a standalone net profit of Rs 452 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2024 which jumped 123% over Rs 202.43 crore reported by the lender in the year ago period. The lender earned interest income of Rs 7,447.17 crore up from Rs 6,216.24 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of the last financial year. This was a 20% YoY jump.

Stainless steel products maker Sai Swami Metals & Alloys Ltd will hit the capital market on April 30 to raise around Rs 15 crore from public investors. Trinamool Congress has lodged a complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal stating that the CBI had «deliberately carried out an unscrupulous» raid at an «empty location» at Sandeshkhali during the second phase of polling in the state. The TMC said that while elections were going on at Darjeeling, Raiganj and Balurghat Lok Sabha constituencies on Friday, the central agency carried out an «unscrupulous» raid at an empty location at Sandeshkhali. The CBI on Friday seized arms and ammunition, including a police service revolver and foreign-made firearms, during searches at two premises of an associate of now-suspended TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh in West Bengal's Sandeshkhali. The searches were conducted in connection with the January attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team by a mob that was allegedly instigated by Sheikh, who was arrested by the West Bengal Police on February 29 in the case.

Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd has reported a marginal decline in consolidated net profit to Rs 97.89 crore during the last fiscal year on lower income. Its net profit stood at Rs 101.43 crore in the preceding year. According to a regulatory filing on Friday, the company's total income fell to Rs 279.12 crore last fiscal from Rs 659.56 crore in 2022-23.
