SJVN on Friday began commercial supply of electricity from its 50 MW Gujrai solar power station in Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh. With this, the total installed power capacity of SJVN stands at 2,277 MW, with 10 power stations currently operational, a power ministry statement said. According to the statement, SJVN, under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power, has begun the successful commercial operation of its 50 MW Gujrai solar power station in Kanpur Dehat, Uttar Pradesh on Friday. The 50 MW Gujrai solar power station has been executed by SJVN through its renewable arm, SJVN Green Energy Ltd (SGEL) at a cost of Rs 281 crore.

Ceat has announced its sponsorship of certain segments of IPL matches, marking an investment of about Rs 240 crore over five years. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has selected Ceat as an official partner to sponsor certain segments of the IPL matches, with an aggregate spend of about Rs 240 crore over five years, Ceat Ltd said in a regulatory filing. ET reported on February 23, citing sources familiar with the matter, My11Circle, RuPay, Angel One, and Ceat have collectively acquired IPL sponsorship slots for a total sum of ₹1,485 crore.

India does not 'rush' into any Free Trade Agreement (FTA) if the pact is not equitable, balanced, and fair for the country, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday said. He said that the ground realities in India have changed now and the offers made by partner countries in these agreements are «not at all» comparable to what India is offering to the world. At present, negotiations for FTAs with the UK, Oman, and the four-nation European Free Trade Association (EFTA) are nearing conclusion. EFTA members are Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Friday amended the Master Direction on Prepaid Payment Instruments (PPI), where it has allowed authorised bank and non-bank PPI issuers to issue PPIs for making payments across various public transport systems. The apex bank noted that, across India, public transport systems cater to a multitude of commuters on a daily basis. «To provide convenience, speed, affordability, and safety of digital modes of payment to commuters for transit services, it has been decided to permit authorised bank and non-bank PPI issuers to issue PPIs for making payments across various public transport systems,» the RBI said in a notification.

Ambuja Cements Ltd. gained 2.16 per cent to Rs 605.3 in Friday's trade. It hit a high of Rs 608.5 and low of Rs 587.9 during the session. On the technical charts, the 200-DMA of the stock stood at Rs 464.32, while the 50-DMA was at Rs 545.22. If a stock trades above 50-DMA and 200-DMA, it usually means the immediate trend is upward. Chief Minister and senior Shiv Sena leader Manohar Joshi passed away on Friday morning after he suffered a cardiac arrest. Joshi (86), was admitted in the ICU of P D Hinduja Hospital on Wednesday and was severely ill, the hospital had said in a statement on Thursday. Joshi was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 1995 to 1999 and the Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 2002 to 2004.

ABB India surged 9% to close at Rs 5,439 as analysts at most top brokerages raised or retained share price targets on the stock after the company reported strong profit in third-quarter results. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 5,450 earlier in the session. The revised average analyst price target on ABB India available on Bloomberg after the third-quarter results was Rs 5147.42, implying a downside of 5.36% over Thursday’s closing. “We see ABB as a perfect trifecta of automation, electrification, premiumisation,” said Nomura’s analysts in a client note. ABB shares jumped 20% in the previous two trading sessions. Analysts at Kotak Securities said that the pace of execution is likely to moderate due to the increased execution period since large orders have doubled. But margins are likely to be resilient bolstered by premiumisation, higher utilisation, and value-based pricing. “Order inflow growth remains constrained by select sectors firing. The pace of execution may moderate further while margin may remain resilient,” said Kotak Securities in a note.

Experts feel that 2G technology is likely to remain mainstream in India at least for the next two-three years as a good number of people still use it, particularly those who can't afford a smartphone. As per industry data, around 50 million 2G phones are sold in a year while there are over 500,000 2G base tower stations in the country, majority owned by Bharti Airtel, followed by Vodafone Idea and state-run BSNL/MTNL.

SpiceJet Ltd must strictly adhere to the deadline, the Delhi High Court on Thursday asked the low-cost airline to return leased engine to Engine Lease Finance BV, in Brussels, Belgium, at its own expense by March 10. It also asked Spicejet chairman and managing director Ajay Singh to file an affidavit within a week undertaking that the engine will be delivered on time without any further delay. The HC cautioned SpiceJet to take the deadline seriously while the lessor sought to initiate contempt proceedings against Singh if the engine was not returned as per the scheduled date.
