IndiGo is currently grappling with a surge in passenger complaints and public outcry, ranging from incidents of apron dining to slapping and verbal spats.
Passengers of an IndiGo flight, delayed and diverted from Goa to Mumbai, sparked controversy by using the airport apron as a dining area upon disembarking. The apron, designated for aircraft activities, raised concerns over safety norms.
Despite regulations limiting passenger movement to embarkation and disembarkation, disgruntled IndiGo travellers refused to enter the terminal after landing in Mumbai, choosing to sit on the apron. The incident occurred due to the flight's substantial delay and subsequent diversion.
Videos shared on social media depicted passengers eating on the apron, prompting attention to safety protocols and airline responsiveness.
The airline expressed awareness of the situation, citing diversion due to low visibility and pledging preventive measures in the future. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) emphasises the need for strict supervision during passenger movements on the apron to ensure safety. The delayed flight eventually reached Delhi 19 hours behind schedule.
Meanwhile, a widely circulated video captured a disturbing incident on an IndiGo flight, where a passenger became enraged and physically assaulted the captain due to a delay on a Delhi to Goa flight.
