A passenger travelling via Air India flight from Delhi to Bengaluru was detained at the Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport for carrying 19 live cartridges without proper documentation. The passenger identified as Ajay Kumar Bana was detained at the time of boarding and a case against him has been registered under section 25 of the Arms Act at the IGI Airport Police Station, news agency ANI reported. Recently, an Air India passenger onboard the Mumbai-Delhi Air India Flight AIC 866 was also arrested for allegedly defecating and urinating onboard the aeroplane. The passenger was identified as Ram Singh who worked as a cook in Africa. As per the FIR filed at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, the passenger allegedly defecated, urinated and spat in row 9 DEF of the aircraft.
The misconduct was spotted by the cabin crew and, subsequently, a verbal warning was issued by the cabin supervisor of the flight. Later, the pilot-in-command was also informed of the misconduct.
In recent times, there have been multiple cases of unruly air passenger behaviour, including incidents of a passenger urinating, smoking in the lavatory of flights and misbehaving with the cabin. Therefore, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken strict action in these incidents, and the airlines concerned had also imposed a flying ban on the passengers concerned.
