South Carolina, an alligator attacked and killed a woman who was walking her dog Wednesday. This macabre incident took place on Hilton Head Island. Confirming the incident, the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office said that the police have recovered the body of a 69-year-old lady by a poolside near a golf course in the Spanish Wells Community. It also said that the alligator was guarding the body of the woman, preventing the rescue operation. The dog was safer. The alligator was removed from the body of the woman. Unfortunately, it is not the first incident of this kind in the area. The Sheriff’s office said in a statement posted on its Facebook page, “This is the second fatal alligator attack in Beaufort County in less than a year. On August 15, 2022, an 88-year-old Sun City woman was attacked by an alligator at a lagoon near her home.” In a separate incident in the Bluffton community in August 2022, an elderly woman was killed by an alligator after she slipped into a pond accidentally. In this incident also, the alligator was seen guarding the woman. In yet another incident, an alligator mauled an elderly woman in a gated community. The alligator grabbed and pulled the woman into the water after she tried to touch it.
