Business tycoon Anand Mahindra took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday and shared a video of Anirudh Kohli, the CEO of Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai, driving an auto rickshaw. The deep blue coloured auto-rickshaw was a Mahindra Last Mile Mobility, an electric three-wheeler.
The Mahindra Group Chairman wrote that Kohli had loved the auto-rickshaw.
He also revealed that he is currently on a mission to popularise an eco-friendly and sustainable means of transport in his neighbourhood.
“Anirudh led his hospital’s fight against the pandemic. Now he and other Alibag homeowners like Rajesh Sachdev (see link below) are starting a new, benign pandemic by evangelizing modest, but sustainable transport solutions in their serene weekend neighbourhoods.
Three-wheelers as personal transport may just be a new trend—and we’re not complaining!” wrote the billionaire.
The post became viral on the microblogging app and gained more than 313K views and 2.2K likes.
Many netizens praised Kohli for his earnest attempt to promote a clean alternative to the traditional auto rickshaw.
One X user wrote, “New age in action!
“It's wonderful to see these options available. It has been possible due to the keen attention that's been paid to the common man's needs. Thanks, @anandmahindra for the initiatives that the company has been making in our #bharat Best luck for more!” tweeted an X user.
However, some netizens weren’t feeling very charitable. One user pointed out that the rickshaw lacked side doors and this could endanger the passengers. “Autos IMO should have doors on both sides, in the front and back, and seatbelts for drivers, like cars.
