A few months earlier, Tracy moved to Spain with her former football teammate Tommy Orpington (Matt Milburn), having departed Weatherfield. Tommy, a painter and decorator who arrived on the cobbles, quickly began an affair with Tracy, Steve's wife, as reported by Metro.
The aftermath of Tracy’s departure
Tracy informed Steve that she didn't want to get back together because their relationship had become boring after the affair was revealed. She packed her bags and moved out of Coronation Street to start afresh in Spain, which made things worse. Despite Tracy's quick return, insiders have revealed that her departure was always intended to be temporary while her character was always expected to return, as per the reports of Metro.

A return for family issue
Despite living far away, Tracy is an important member of Coronation Street and won't be gone for very long, a source close to the show told 'The Sun.' This summer, Tracy is scheduled to return for a week to visit her family and take care of some Barlow family issues, according to the source.
Tracy will discover a lot has changed when she gets back. After her father Ken (William Roache) suffered a fall, it became clear that he would require care until he fully recovered.
