Miller told reporters that Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, had been hampered in its ability to deport people because of a lack of aircraft. The agency charters planes and conducted hundreds of flights last year, according to experts.
This week, the US began deporting migrants on military planes, an option former President Joe Biden declined to use. Miller suggested President Donald Trump was willing to go further, saying even more aircraft could be brought to bear, including from the Department of Homeland Security and the Defense Department.
“You have obviously DHS air assets, you have DOD air assets, you have State Department air assets, you have commercial air assets, you have charter air assets, so every asset that can be used to conduct a lawful deportation,” Miller told reporters.
