Shelby McEwen, high jumpers at the men's category in the Paris Olympics 2024, went into a massive controversy, after rejecting the idea of sharing a gold medal, when their jump scores came to a tie. However, they did not consider for a moment about sharing the podium together, even after toiling hard towards the final stage of the event.
Although, this incident brought back memories of a similar incident from three years ago, when Gianmarco Tamberi and Mutaz Essa Barshim shared the podium under similar circumstances. They agreed to share the gold after a discussion with the match officials, when both of them had failed to clear the 2.39m bar for the top position. This was a rather interesting situation, but the match officials ultimately granted their request, and they were seen celebrating their achievement together, a few moments later.

There is no certain reason around the fact as to why Hamish Kerr and Shelby McEwen rejected the offer for sharing the gold medal at the Paris Olympics high jump event, even when there was already a precedence around it from the previous edition. Even though it would have boasted of the highest spirits of sportsmanship in the entire world, they still went on to reject the offer of doing so.
