The much-anticipated renovation of Mannat has been in the works for quite some time, with Gauri Khan, an accomplished interior designer, actively overseeing the project. The process began when she sought permission from the Maharashtra Coastal Zone Management Authority (MCZMA) in November last year. The approved expansion will add two additional floors to the already towering six-storey Mannat Annexe, increasing the total built-up area by 616.02 square meters. Given Mannat's Grade III heritage status, all structural changes required official clearance from various authorities.

Reports indicate that the large-scale renovation, estimated to cost around Rs 25 crore, will involve modernizing existing interiors while ensuring that the classic charm of the structure remains intact. The construction work is expected to take anywhere from one and a half to two years to complete. During this time, Mannat will see significant improvements in its infrastructure, including redesigned interiors, enhanced security measures, and new state-of-the-art facilities. Despite these changes, the integrity of its heritage elements will be preserved to maintain the legacy of the residence.
