Gisele’s testimony was heart-wrenching. She told the court, «My life was in danger, but not one second did anyone stop. Lucky I didn't catch it. But not once did Mr. Pelicot say to himself, 'I've gone too far'. He showed no pity, no pity at all.»
The trial also involved excerpts from a book by Gisele’s daughter, Caroline Darian, titled And I Stopped Calling You Daddy. The book reveals that Dominique allegedly instructed his wife’s attackers to forgo protection during the assaults.
Gisele shared that she experienced memory loss episodes in 2011 and 2013, initially suspecting Alzheimer’s disease. During these times, she jokingly asked Dominique if he was drugging her, to which he allegedly responded with tears and denial. Dominique accompanied her to a doctor who later suggested that her symptoms might have been due to a “brain seizure.”
Gisele first met Dominique in 1971, and they married within two years. It’s alleged that the abuse began in 2011, although Gisele was unaware of it until recently.
The case took a darker turn when, following Dominique’s arrest in 2020 for secretly recording women’s skirts, police discovered disturbing evidence. They found numerous images and videos showing Gisele unconscious, indicating multiple instances of rape. Additionally, investigators uncovered a website where Dominique had allegedly invited strangers to his home to sexually assault his wife. The site has since been taken down by authorities.
