The incident unfolded at 3 a.m. when Chandwani realised his cab driver was struggling to stay awake. Despite stopping for tea and cigarettes to shake off his drowsiness, the driver couldn’t keep his eyes open. Concerned about safety, Chandwani offered to take over the wheel. To his surprise, the driver readily agreed, handing over the car keys without hesitation.
Chandwani found himself behind the wheel, navigating Bengaluru’s streets with Google Maps as his only guide. Meanwhile, the exhausted driver reclined his seat and immediately fell asleep in the passenger seat. The situation became even more poignant when the driver received a call from his employer shortly before they reached their destination. Chandwani overheard the driver requesting a day shift, explaining that he could no longer manage the demands of working nights.
