US Vice President Kamala Harris eventually faced significant challenges in publicly breaking from US President Joe Biden which was a decision eventually driven by her loyalty to his administration, reported The Hill. Senior adviser Stephanie Cutter explained that Kamala Harris wanted to avoid the negative media narratives that could arise from openly criticizing Joe Biden.
According to The Hill, Kamala Harris actually maintained that US Vice Presidents traditionally do not diverge from their Presidents while citing recent historical examples, such as Mike Pence's break with Donald Trump following the Capitol riot.
In spite of public perception that she might be a candidate for change, Kamala Harris struggled to articulate specific differences between her policies and those of Joe Biden. The Hill noted that in an interview on ‘The View’, when asked what she would have done differently from Joe Biden, she could not identify any significant change which was the statement that was later exploited by Donald Trump during his campaign rallies.

Kamala Harris's campaign sought to highlight her unique experiences and future-oriented policies to distinguish her candidacy but internal polling at the same time consistently showed her trailing to Donald Trump, asserted The Hill. The advisers acknowledged that voter dissatisfaction with the US economy and Joe Biden's low approval ratings eventually contributed to their difficulties.
