LeBron James is just one point shy of becoming 1st NBA player to reach 50,000 career points
LeBron James will become the first player in NBA history to score 50,000 total career points. James also has 1,000 career wins in the NBA.
James, who turned 40 on 30 December 2024, is the NBA's all-time leading scorer in regular season points with 41,837, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record from two years ago, which had stood for 39 years. He is also the league's all-time leader in playoff points, with 8,162, having overtaken Michael Jordan in 2017.
LeBron James' historical milestone
James is on the verge of reaching 50,000 career points, combining both regular season and playoff games. He scored 17 points on Sunday night during the Los Angeles Lakers' 108-102 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers' next game will be on Tuesday at home against the New Orleans Pelicans at 10:30 PM ET.
Already the all-time leader in combined points, James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's regular season scoring record on 7 February 2023, and broke Michael Jordan’s playoff scoring record on 25 May 2017.
