Munawar Faruqui recently shared a heartbreaking anecdote. The ‘Bigg Boss 17’ winner revealed that his son Mikael was diagnosed with a rare disease when he was just one-and-a-half years old. To add insult to injury, Faruqui struggled with paying medical expenses.
In a podcast with Janice Sequeira, he shared about his ordeal. He opened up about the financial hardships he faced during that challenging period. He disclosed that his son's medical diagnosis required injections priced at Rs 25,000 each, while he barely had Rs 700 in his pocket at the time.
“That situation scares me. My son was one and a half years old back then. He fell ill, and for 2-3 days, his condition didn’t improve. After taking him to the hospital, we discovered he had Kawasaki disease. Three injections were required, each costing Rs 25,000. I needed Rs 75,000 but had only Rs 700-800 in my wallet," he said.
Munawar revealed that he had no choice but to seek financial help from others. “I traveled to Mumbai Central, gathered the funds, and returned within three hours. Although I felt relieved, I couldn’t bring myself to smile because the money wasn’t mine," he shared. He further added, “From that day onward, I vowed never to be in a position of financial insufficiency again."
This year, Munawar Faruqui tied the knot with Mehzabeen Coatwala in May. Previously, he was married to Jasmine, with whom he shares a six-year-old son, Mikael. Munawar first spoke about his son during his time on Kangana Ranaut’s Lock Upp reality show. Now he frequently
