In 2013, Kejriwal made history by defeating then-Chief Minister and veteran Congress leader Sheila Dikshit. In the 2020 elections, he secured the seat with a lead of 21,697 votes against BJP’s Sunil Kumar Yadav. Now, he is aiming for another victory to continue his party’s rule in Delhi.
This time, Kejriwal is up against two strong opponents – BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit.

As the son of the late Sheila Dikshit, Delhi’s longest-serving Chief Minister, he carries his family’s political legacy and hopes to revive his party’s fortunes in the capital.
The 2025 Delhi Assembly elections have turned into a triangular battle among AAP, BJP, and Congress. While Kejriwal’s AAP is aiming to retain power, BJP and Congress are determined to dethrone the ruling party.
