Earlier, PM Modi had also sent greetings on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan through a post on micro social media platform X.
«Best wishes to all countrymen on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, a festival symbolizing the immense love between brother and sister. May this holy festival bring new sweetness in the relationships of all of you and happiness, prosperity and good fortune in life,» his post read.
Several ministers — from Union Minister Piyush Goyal to chief ministers such as Himanta Biswa Sarma — also celebrated the occasion with women and children. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also held a Rakhi celebration with school students. On the other hand, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar tied a rakhi to a tree to mark 'Vriksha Suraksha Diwas.'
President Droupadi Murmu took to X as well to convey greetings on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
«On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan, I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all the countrymen. This festival, based on the feeling of love and mutual trust between brothers and sisters, instills a feeling of affection and respect towards all sisters and daughters. I would like that on this festival day, all the countrymen take a pledge to ensure the safety and respect of women in our society,» she wrote.
