This year Sawan will last for 59 days, from July 4 to August 31. July 10 marks the first fasting Monday of the period this year while August 28 marks the last Monday fast of the period. To obtain the blessings of Lord Shiva and Parvati, people keep 'Sawan Somwar' fasts.

This year there are two Shivratri in Sawan as the month of Sawan stretches to almost two months. The first Sawan Shivratri is on July 15th, 2023, and the second Sawan Shivratri is on August 14th, 2023. According to Drik Panchang, the Chaturdashi tithi will begin at 08:32 PM on July 15, 2023 on July 15 and will end at 10:08 PM on Jul 16, 2023.

Similarly, the Chaturdashi tithi begins at 10:25 AM on Aug 14 and ends at 12:42 PM, Aug 15. In addition, Kanwar Yatra is a significant ritual during this period. Devotees walk on foot to visit temples dedicated to Lord Shiva to fetch the holy water and then worship the God with that water.
