Why is Mandarin Oriental introducing Chinese philosophy-inspired cocktails?
Lunar New Year is a time of tradition, symbolism, and celebration. Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong aims to honor this by crafting drinks that go beyond taste, incorporating elements of Chinese wisdom into their cocktails. These drinks reflect the balance of flavors, much like the balance of yin and yang in Chinese culture.
The Aubrey, the hotel’s izakaya-style bar, has introduced a new cocktail collection based on the Japanese philosophy of «Kaizen,» meaning continuous improvement. The menu features eight signature cocktails, blending traditional Japanese ingredients with creative techniques.
One standout drink, In Between the Line, combines Yasuda Imo Shochu with gin and habanero for an unexpected burst of flavor. Each cocktail is designed to offer an experience that connects guests with the deep-rooted traditions of Asian culture.
