Punjab National Bank(up 2.22 per cent), IDFCBANK(up 0.84 per cent), Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 0.81 per cent), IndusInd Bank(up 0.6 per cent) and Axis Bank(up 0.56 per cent) were among the top gainers. HDFC Bank(down 0.21 per cent) were the top losers on the index.
The Nifty Bank index was up 0.2 per cent at 45936.3 at the time of writing this report. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 126.05 points at 19806.65, while the BSE Sensex was up 485.39 points at 66841.1.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 40 were trading in the green, while 10 were in the red. Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Reliance Power, Suzlon Energy and PNB were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
