Shares of MPhasis(up 5.28 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack. On the other hand, Infosys(down 8.13 per cent), Persistent Systems(down 5.83 per cent), Tech Mahindra(down 4.62 per cent), Coforge(down 3.72 per cent) and HCL Technologies(down 3.49 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty IT index closed 4.09 per cent down at 29871.05. Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 234.15 points at 19745.0, while the BSE Sensex stood down 887.64 points at 66684.26.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 12 ended in the green, while 38 closed in the red. Shares of YES Bank, Vodafone Idea, Indian Railway Fin, Reliance Power and Rail Vikas Nigam were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
