After French nun Lucile Randon passed away in January of last year at the age of 118, Maria Branyas Morera, a Spanish retiree, was awarded and felicitated with the amazing title of being the oldest living person in the world.
Maria Branyas Morera, who survived two pandemics and two world wars, died peacefully and without pain in her sleep, just as she had desired. She gave great pieces of advice and will always be remembered for her kindness, as quoted in a report by The Sun.

Maria used to provide her 16,000 followers on X with weekly updates because she was an avid user of social media. The elderly woman expressed her fear that the time is near and that she felt weak in her heartbreaking farewell message on Tuesday.
The pensioner shared that she had always avoided toxic people and that order and tranquillity were the reasons behind her longevity.
Maria was born in 1907 while San Francisco was fighting a dreadful outbreak of the bubonic plague. After staying in Spain, she went on to survive both World Wars, but she also had to deal with the horrors of the Spanish Civil War and the Spanish flu pandemic.
