The request involved keeping both candidates' microphones unmuted throughout the 90-minute debate scheduled for September 10. ABC News decided to adhere to the guidelines previously established for Trump’s June 27 debate against President Joe Biden. According to an email reviewed by The Post, the rules include no live audience, no pre-written notes or props, and muted microphones when a candidate is not speaking. Trump and Harris will be allowed to have only a pen, a pad of paper, and a bottle of water while on stage. The Republican campaign demanded that these rules remain unchanged to ensure consistency with the June debate.
