US Presidential Election 2024 and his running mate, pressure is increasingly piling on Joe Biden to step aside and allow someone else to take Republican contender Donald Trump. In a survey held recently, about two-thirds of Democrats have said that the incumbent president should withdraw from the presidential election. It is against Biden's post-debate claim that 'average Democrats' are with him though some 'big names' are turning on him.
In an opinion poll conducted recently, AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research has found about 65% of Democrats and 70% of Americans want Biden to step aside, reports 'New York Post'. According to this poll, half of Democrats (48%) have no confidence that Joe Biden has the mental capability to serve effectively as president. This is up from 32% in an AP-NORC poll in February.
It came after Democrats were dissatisfied with Biden as their nominee had surged 16 percentage points in the last month. An opinion poll held during June 20-24 poll showed 39% expressing disease with the president at the top of the 2024 ticket and a July 11-15 poll revealed that number rising to 48%. The AP-NORC poll was conducted before Saturday’s assassination attempt on Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
