'Son of Blackbird' the SR-72 plane will soon join the US Air Force to improve its aviation abilities and rule the skies. It is set to be a super-fast, hypersonic high-altitude surveillance aircraft. The SR-72 will be able to fire projectiles such as hypersonic weapons more accurately than anything before it. It can reach hypersonic speeds in a flash but more importantly, it can stay at these speeds for a longer period.
Lockheed Martin is working on the project of making this surveillance aircraft, but the Pentagon is keeping a close eye on this futuristic plane. The company is famous for its ambitious efforts when it comes to planes and the SR-72 is no different. The company is developing this plane as a part of its Advanced Development Programs, known as 'Skunk Works'.

Until now, the fastest-ever aircraft is the Mach 6 – with hardly anything else coming close outside of spaceships. The Mach 6 can hit speeds of over 4,100mph and the SR-72 is reportedly aiming for speeds around that number.
An aircraft with this speed is when the military needs to get somewhere in an extraordinarily quick time and with a top speed of over 4,000mph that could mean getting from the US to Europe in an hour and a half.
The original plane flew at whopping heights of between 80,000 ft-85,000 ft, it flew an impressive 50,000ft higher than any commercial plane. This plane was considered simply untouchable by any enemy aircraft and was able to evade almost all weapon systems that other militaries had in
