Tim Walz and Senator JD Vance of Ohio will participate in the first vice-presidential debate on October 1. They have accepted an invitation from CBS News. The news network took to social media platform X to write that both of the vice presidential candidates had accepted the invitation. It said Kamala Harris's running mate Tim Walz and Donald Trump's running mate JD Vance have accepted four potential dates: September 17, September 24, October 1, and October 8.
The Harris campaign confirmed accepting CBS News' invitation for the debate. Walz wrote in response, “See you on October 1, JD.” Vance accepted the October 1 invitation on Thursday. Moving one step further, he said he was willing to have an earlier debate in September. 18 on CNN. He said the American people deserve as many debates as possible.
However, according to the New York Times, the Harris-Walz campaign has indicated that it would not accept an additional vice-presidential date. Michael Tyler, a spokesman for the campaign, said in a statement Donald Trump’s campaign accepted the proposal for three debates, two presidential and a vice-presidential debate. It said further the debate about debates is over.
