The French multinational and its non-profit partner organisation were keen to digitise both natural and man-made features from aerial imagery of desert terrain. So they turned to artificial intelligence (AI) for assistance. Given the vast geographical regions involved, they sought out automated methods to identify and track roads, tracks and trails.
In a bid to spur AI-led innovation internally, large technology companies are not just training their employees in AI but also encouraging various teams to come up with use cases and deploy the technology in their verticals.
For instance, Google Cloud employees are internally using Gen AI to create proposal decks while Salesforce has piloted an AI evaluation agent for managers to assess videos of product pitches prepared by employees. The likes of IBM and SAP are deploying GenAI in human resources functions, while mobile marketing unicorn InMobi’s business analysis, legal and content operations teams are doing so.
“If as a company you’re not using the latest AI tools for your internal processes, you’re going to have slow and costly operations, which means you’re going to become less and less competitive,” said InMobi CEO Naveen Tewari, adding that GenAI brings in a cultural change rather than a process change.
