Joe and Anthony Russo may return to direct the upcoming «Avengers» movies, scheduled for 2026 and 2027. These films will conclude the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Multiverse Saga. The Russos previously directed «Infinity War» and «Endgame,» both huge box office successes.
Marvel Studios began searching for directors after Destin Daniel Cretton left «Kang Dynasty» in 2023. Shawn Levy, director of «Deadpool & Wolverine,» was offered the role but declined. Michael Waldron, creator of «Loki,» is writing the screenplay for «Kang Dynasty.» «Secret Wars» currently has no screenwriter.
Jonathan Majors, who played multiple versions of the supervillain Kang, will no longer be involved in the upcoming «Avengers» movies. Marvel cut ties with Majors after he was found guilty of domestic harassment and assault. The movie, initially titled «The Kang Dynasty,» will be retitled.
The production schedule for the new «Avengers» movies is not yet clear. Anthony and Joe Russo are currently working on «The Electric State,» a Netflix sci-fi adventure starring Chris Pratt and Millie Bobby Brown, which finished shooting in late 2022.
