XDefiant emerged on the scene in July 2021 as a part of the Tom Clancy universe but it has now been facing various issues. It piqued the interest of the gaming community, especially Call of Duty fans, who saw it as a promising competitor. Mark Rubin, Ubisoft Executive Producer, shed more light on the game in June during Ubisoft Forward.
XDefiant's release date remains uncertain as it faced delays and setbacks. Originally slated for a summer 2023 launch, the game did not pass the submission process after its late July submission. Despite efforts and a public test session in late September, the XDefiant team decided on an indefinite delay due to inconsistencies in the game experience.
XDefiant will be playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4/5, PC, and Amazon Luna. On PS5 and Xbox Series X, the game will run at 120 Hz.
The latest open beta for XDefiant ran from June 21 to 23. There was also a Public Test Session held between September 28 and 29.
XDefiant, developed with input from former Call of Duty developers and pro players, shares similarities with COD in terms of fast-paced FPS action. The game boasts 14 maps at launch, with plans for more content in the future, including 12 additional maps and 12 new weapons over the first year.
Every character in the game, known as a 'Defiant,' can choose their weapons and equipment, even modifying loadouts after respawning. Unique abilities, such as self-healing and bubble shields, charge over time, adding strategic depth.
The game features 6v6 game modes like Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Escort. Ubisoft promises a diverse rotation of uniquely
