Lok Sabha plunged into protests and adjourned till 2 pm on Wednesday after BJP's Nishikant Dubey alleged that the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and Sonia Gandhi had links with George Soros and FDL-AP, which had advocated freedom for Kashmir, and claimed the «Soros-funded» Global Knowledge Initiative run by Sam Pitroda bore the expenses of Rahul Gandhi's trips to the US for meeting with some contentious outfits/persons. Dubey's charges triggered a furore with the Congress benches denouncing the charges, with a couple of them briefly walking up to the podium of the Chair, while BJP MPs rallied around Dubey, prompting the Chair to adjourn the House till afternoon. Raising the issue during Zero Hour in the form of more questions to Rahul Gandhi (who was not present), Dubey asked: «What relations do the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation and Sonia Gandhi have with FDL-AP (Forum of Democratic Leaders in the Asia-Pacific ), which considers Kashmir as a separate country? The FDL-AP is funded by Soros. What is the relation between Soros and Sonia Gandhi? Sam Pitroda, Chairman of the Overseas Friends of Congress, runs the Global Knowledge Initiative which is also funded by Soros, and the Global Knowledge Initiative and Pitroda bore the expenditure of Rahul Gandhi's tours to the US, where he met Khalistanis… What is the relation of Rahul Gandhi, Pitroda, Soros and Global Knowledge Initiative?» The Congress MPs protested against Dubey's allegations, and in the din, the Chair adjourned the House.

Kiren Rijiju during the on-going winter session of Parliament, the Opposition on Thursday submitted a notice for moving a Privilege Motion against him. TMC Rajya Sabha member Sagarika Ghosh initiated the process with 60 MPs of the Upper House signing the notice which was handed over to the secretary general for censuring the minister. «The Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju, instead of doing his job of running Parliament smoothly, has chosen to repeatedly insult Opposition members. Yesterday (11/ 12/24), Rijiju insulted the Opposition by saying that the entire Opposition is „not worthy“ of being members of the House. Rijiju has insulted opposition members and used personal terms against opposition MPs both inside and outside the House,» Ghosh said in the notice to the Rajya Sabha secretariat. Amid the tussle between Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar and the Opposition (which has submitted a notice for impeaching the Vice-President), Rijiju backed him in the House on Thursday and attacked the Opposition in what the latter termed «derogatory language». Rijiju had said the Opposition is not worth of being in the House. He also praised Dhankhar and expressed his gratitude that a leader like him is Chairman of the House.

UNGA on Wednesday voted 158-9, with 13 abstentions, to demand an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and 159-9, with 11 abstentions, in support of the UN agency — UNRWA. The voting was held after two days of speeches that called for an end to the 14-month war between Israel and Hamas. Israel and the US voted against the resolutions. The resolution demanded an immediate and permanent cease-fire to be respected by all parties, while also reiterating a demand for immediate and unconditional release of all hostages.
