India's cotton imports in 2024/25 are likely to double from a year ago as production is set to fall below consumption because of a decline in acreage planted and adverse weather, a leading trade body said on Tuesday. Higher imports by the world's second-largest producer of the fibre could support global prices, which fell to their lowest in more than four years after top consumer China levied duties on imports from the United States. India could import 3 million bales in the current marketing year ending on September 30, up from 1.52 million bales imported a year ago, the Cotton Association of India (CAI) said in a statement. During the period from October to February, 2.2 million bales of overseas cotton landed at Indian ports, according to CAI estimates. India's cotton production in the current year is likely to fall by 10% from a year ago, to 29.53 million bales, even as demand is estimated to rise marginally to 31.5 million bales, it said.

markets Platform security Mobile guidelines Updates UPI ID linked to inactive mobile number? With this move of NPCI, it will be hard to misuse your UPI ID with recycled number
UPI ID linked with a mobile number you dont use, or have anymore? It has not been an easy task to delink such an inactive mobile number from the UPI ID. However, going ahead, you will be able to remove, or de-link your mobile number from this UPI ID, even if you do not have that mobile number in your possession anymore. Before the end of this month (i.e., before March 31, 2025), all UPI banks and PSPs (payment service providers) will have to update their database with regards to recycled, or churned, numbers, to “reduce the chances of errors due to churned mobile numbers,” per a recent NPCI circular dated March 2025. Moreover, this will not be a one-off updation process. As the circular further notes, NPCI requires its member apps and banks to at least bring their mobile number databases up to date at least once a week, so that recycled, or churned-out, numbers are identified and weeded out more frequently. For this purpose, “the Banks, PSP apps shall use the Mobile Number Revocation List (MNRL)/Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP),” the circular adds.

And we must always be ready to defend our interests.» Peskov issued his warning as U.S. officials prepared to meet with a Ukrainian delegation in Saudi Arabia later on Tuesday, in part to determine whether Ukraine is willing to make material concessions to Russia to end the war. Peskov said that Russia was achieving its aims on the battlefield in Ukraine, regardless of what decisions the U.S. was taking. He said the amount of weapons circulating in Ukraine was so large that Kyiv had enough to keep fighting for many months despite the suspension of U.S. deliveries.

markets Provident WhatsApp RAI Courts Updates USCIS announces grace period for new immigration forms, including Green Card applications
USCIS) has announced a one-month grace period for older versions of immigration forms, including green card applications. This decision comes after a lawsuit challenged the agency's sudden rollout of new forms without prior notice. According to Bloomberg Law, USCIS will now accept previous editions of updated forms for 30 days from the date new versions were issued. The agency confirmed this update in a notice published on its website. Forms impacted by this decision include Form I-485 for green cards, Form N-400 for naturalization, and others. Earlier, the USCIS introduced updated forms with an edition date of January 20, 2025. However, when these forms were released in late February and early March, the agency did not provide a grace period. This led to confusion among applicants and attorneys, as older versions were submitted even after the updates took effect.

markets Analysis BlackRock wellness Trade Destinations cricket BlackRock believes in India’s structural bull story; the selloff has fed on itself: Ben Powell
Ben Powell, Chief Middle East and APAC Investment Strategist, BlackRock Investment Institute, says we at BlackRock are still very much on board with the India bull story, while being respectful of the short-term sell-off which clearly has fed on itself. India is on a journey to exist as a standalone investment destination and that is going to become more and more the case in the quarters and years ahead. We have discussed the US. We have discussed China. Where is India? Did I miss it? Ben Powell: India is doing very well. I am here in the UAE. We had a huge cricket event over the weekend. India was triumphant. India, I still think is in this temporarily tricky spot of risk slightly feeding on itself. You have had a market which perhaps got a little bit ahead of itself several months ago and that was ripe, it turns out, for a little bit of a downdraft and that is now feeding on itself to some degree.
