Incubate Fund Asia, a sector-agnostic and Japan-origin venture capital firm, on Wednesday announced the first close of its third fund, which has a target corpus of $50 million (Rs 416 crore). The Singapore-based fund also said it is rebranding itself as Incubate Fund Asia. Previously, as Incubate Fund India, it only backed domestic startups such as Captain Fresh, Yulu, ShopKirana and Plum from its first two funds since 2016. It has backed 27 companies so far.

India is among the 'priority' markets for WhatsApp Business Messaging and Meta wants to provide users with a choice when it comes to payments. The company has therefore opened up access to payments via WhatsApp Business messaging, allowing customers to pay businesses on the app with the UPI option of their liking in addition to debit and credit cards, Nikila Srinivasan, global vice-president, Business Messaging at Meta told ET on Wednesday. Earlier in the day, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Meta was expanding the ways that people can pay for things within a chat thread.

International Trade Centre (ITC), a United Nations-WTO joint venture, has begun work on developing a prototype of Global Trade Helpdesk to enhance information access for small businesses in line with the G20 plan for trade endorsed at the New Delhi summit, Pamela Coke Hamilton, its executive director, told ET. The ‘Jaipur Call for Action’ under India’s G20 presidency has roped in Geneva-based ITC for “appropriate, aggregated, trade-related information relevant for MSMEs (micro, small and medium enterprises)” available on a single portal and a non-exhaustive list of links to relevant government websites for MSMEs. The New Delhi declaration adopted last week by the G20 leaders had endorsed the proposal. “We will have an initial report on the Global Trade Helpdesk for members next year – to be shared at our annual meeting of stakeholders – and the plan is to work towards building a prototype,” Coke Hamilton said in an interview to ET.

India and Brazil have started talks to mutually resolve a sugar related trade dispute at the World Trade Organisation (WTO) and as part of the solution the South American nation may share ethanol production technology with New Delhi, an official said. Brazil is the largest producer of sugarcane and ethanol in the world. It is also a leader in the technology used for ethanol production. «Few rounds of talks have been held as part of our efforts to resolve the dispute.

As many as 14 people, including passengers and crew, lost their lives in a devastating plane crash that occurred in Barcelos, Brazil, on Saturday. The ill-fated aircraft, a Bandeirante model, was carrying a total of 12 tourists, accompanied by the pilot and co-pilot, as confirmed by Civil Defence authorities. Heartbreakingly, there were no survivors, as affirmed by the Civil Defence.
